Father God Almighty, what an amazing
past couple of weeks we have had as a family! Peace has found its way back into
our home. For the first time during an Easter season, LeeRoy has begun to genuinely hold my
hand and pray with me. A few times, he even spoke about the peace and enjoyment he
was feeling in my company. Even more amazing, he began to encourage me to share my faith with
him.
One day, while feeling led by Your
Spirit, I took steps to create an experience for him and our eight-year-old son
that I thought might lead them closer to You. First, I ordered a program online that taught about Old Testament prophecies concerning Your Son, Jesus Christ.
“Maybe my husband’s heart is opened enough to participate in weekly Bible
study.” I thought.
When the program called “The
Messiah Mystery,” arrived in the mail, I quickly and excitedly shared it with
my husband. To my surprise, LeeRoy not only offered to lead our family in the study but all of the children living in our
trailer park as well.
Each Wednesday, we wandered
back in time together and anticipated the coming of our LORD, Jesus Christ. Meanwhile,
a television channel began to air a special called The Bible. How
odd it was to be now holding hands while watching the same channel that
used to spark fights over Christianity and its role in our home!
Soon Holy Week was upon us. Another
surprise awaited us in our mailbox. It was a children’s cartoon
featuring The Last Supper. I had completely forgotten that a month
prior, I ordered the children’s movie in the hopes of watching it while
reenacting Jesus' Last Supper in our home. I never expected my husband to
join in. However, once again, he surprised me and joyfully
participated in our simple version of the Last Supper meal. He even watched the
children’s DVD with our son and me and commented about how he was finally
starting to comprehend the true meaning of Resurrection Sunday.
Today, I stand in awe of all
that You have done to bring our hearts closer together. Thank You for helping
me comprehend Your ways. I know now that I am to pray for a heart that longs to
encourage and support my husband. Please Father God, help me to be a true
keeper of the home and a wife who continually submits her Spirit to Your will in
holy reverence of You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
