Father
God, today, Your providence brought me to the side of a few foreigners from
another country. A husband and wife had flown all the way from Australia to see
a few sights around Los Angeles. For some strange reason, on this particular day, the internet
connection in our trailer was taking an unusually long time to load. So, I
decided to use the trailer park's shared computer, located in the modular office
at the entrance of the park.
Within a
few minutes of the couple entering the makeshift building where I sat, I struck
up a conversation. "You can use the computer if you want," I said as I moved over to the couch in the lounge. The woman graciously walked over to the computer and sat down. Her husband stood behind her. As I opened my Bible and started to settle in, I looked up and made eye contact with the woman. Her frustration began to show. The couple wanted to visit Venice beach,
the place that Hollywood had portrayed so romantically on the "telli." But, the couple
couldn’t find a way to get there. There were, as they sadly discovered, no busses, no cabs or trains that could transport them.
I
couldn’t help myself. I abruptly interrupted their conversation. “I can take
you!” I excitedly offered. The woman
seemed skeptical, yet hopeful. I tried to talk her out of visiting Venice Beach saying; "It is full of people who are happy in their
sin." But the woman's mind was made up. So, I shared with my
eight-year-old son that we would be spending the day chauffeuring a few
strangers to a famous tourist spot. We are excited to do Your will.
